Oscar de la Renta Spring Bridal 2013

28 Jun

Today I thought I would feature some of the gowns from the Oscar de la Renta Spring Bridal 2013 collection. The majority of the collection was made up of traditional white gowns, which are absolutely stunning, featuring lace, illusion necklines, and layers of tulle. The collection also features gowns in jeweled accents, covered with intricate lace overlays. You also can’t miss the two striking red gowns, which started and ended the collection on the runway. The ready to wear collection appeals to a wide variety of brides, modern, chic, quirky and fun! A number of the dresses in the collection are also made in younger versions, for flower girls. How adorable!

Signature Drinks

26 Jun

So your reception menu is finalised, and your dream wedding cake is designed, so naturally the next step is to focus on the types of drinks that will be served at your reception. We all know the stock standards are your beer, wines, champagnes and soft drinks, but why not mix it up a little, and serve a ‘Signature Drink’. Signature Drinks are becoming more and more popular at wedding receptions and it is a great personal touch to your bar menu. So what is a Signature Drink? It is usually a form of cocktail, which stars either your favourite liquor, may match with your colour scheme or just sounds incredibly delicious! If you are particularly budget conscious, this is a great addition to the standards of beer, wine and champagne, rather than having an open bar. Here are some of my favourites to get your mouth watering!

1. Something Blue

Ingredients: Blue Curacao, White Wine & Ginger Ale

Method: Build the ingredients in a champagne flute. Serve & enjoy.

Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves Married!

15 Jun

After six years together and two children, Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves have married on June 9! The couple tied the knot during an intimate at-home ceremony in Austin, Texas. McConaughey says “We decided to embrace the ritual of marriage as an opportunity and adventure we’ll take together.”

Alves’ gorgeous wedding dress was handmade by one of her favourite designers from Brazil, choosing a pair of white Stuart Weitzman heels to walk down the aisle in. McConaughey chose a black Dolce & Gabbana tux! The guest list included the likes of Woody Harrelson, Reese Witherspoon, Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp who even sang a song during the service!!

Guest were treated to a ‘island beach meets Texas’ themed reception, where they feasted on delicious food from Brazilian steakhouse Estância Churrascaria, including Brazilian top and bottom steak, chicken wrapped in bacon and pork sausages with cheese bread. Tables were a light with plenty of candles and string lights hung overhead and a band provided the music.

In a quirky twist during the ceremony, McConaughey and Alves opted to ‘whisper’ their vows into each other’s ears, rather than sharing them out aloud. How romantic! according to People magazine the bride is also set to take Matthew’s last name, becoming Camila McConaughey!

Congratulations Matthew and Camila!

Melanie Rose Photography Studio Opening 23/05/2012

24 May

I had the absolute pleasure of attending the Studio Opening for Melanie Rose Photography last night. The beautifully designed studio is now open for business on the Northside of Brisbane, at the recently renovated Stafford City Shopping Centre. I first became aware of Melanie Rose Photography via Facebook (who would have thought?!), which is where I caught eye of the beautiful wedding photography that is captured by a very talented group of all female photographers – Melanie Stubbs, Tania Stanley and Zita Makkos.

The studio is situated in prime position in the heart of the shopping centre, which is no doubt, going to catch the eye of every shopper who walks by. Last night though, the studio was set up for a celebration. The studio was full of family, friends and wedding industry professionals, all there to celebrate the wonderful achievement of Melanie Rose Photography.

The evening was catered by, Jerome from Dalton Hospitality. The canapés included the likes of Deep Fried Camembert, Lamb and Vegetable Mini Pies and White Fish Ceviche, Green Papaya and Caviar served in spoons. I must admit, these were some of the best canapés I have ever had the pleasure of tasting! Do yourself a favour and please check out the menus, I am sure you won’t be disappointed.

With drinks flowing, it provided everyone with a great networking opportunity. I had the chance to meet some wonderful wedding industry professionals, who are experts in their chosen fields. A big shout out to Peter Hearnden from  Paramount Events, Linda Osborne from The Party Girls, Tania-Lea Nelson Mobile Makeup Artist Brisbane, Kay Franks from Life Events and Emily Morandy from Cakelady Creations.

Melanie Rose Photography, thank you once again for a wonderful evening and I wish you all the best for the future in your beautiful new digs!

Are you over the short wedding dress? Would you love to wear a short wedding dress but can’t bear the thought of bearing all that leg? Well here is something that might do the trick – the Peplum Wedding Dress. I hear you ask what is Peplum? Well to put it simply, it is short over-skirts that grace the waistlines of longer gowns. The trend seems to be hitting runways all over the world in all shapes, sizes, designs, cuts and colours! So to inspire you a little further, here are a collection of some of my favourite Peplum Wedding Gowns. Enjoy!
