Melanie Rose Photography Studio Opening 23/05/2012

24 May

I had the absolute pleasure of attending the Studio Opening for Melanie Rose Photography last night. The beautifully designed studio is now open for business on the Northside of Brisbane, at the recently renovated Stafford City Shopping Centre. I first became aware of Melanie Rose Photography via Facebook (who would have thought?!), which is where I caught eye of the beautiful wedding photography that is captured by a very talented group of all female photographers – Melanie Stubbs, Tania Stanley and Zita Makkos.

The studio is situated in prime position in the heart of the shopping centre, which is no doubt, going to catch the eye of every shopper who walks by. Last night though, the studio was set up for a celebration. The studio was full of family, friends and wedding industry professionals, all there to celebrate the wonderful achievement of Melanie Rose Photography.

The evening was catered by, Jerome from Dalton Hospitality. The canapés included the likes of Deep Fried Camembert, Lamb and Vegetable Mini Pies and White Fish Ceviche, Green Papaya and Caviar served in spoons. I must admit, these were some of the best canapés I have ever had the pleasure of tasting! Do yourself a favour and please check out the menus, I am sure you won’t be disappointed.

With drinks flowing, it provided everyone with a great networking opportunity. I had the chance to meet some wonderful wedding industry professionals, who are experts in their chosen fields. A big shout out to Peter Hearnden from  Paramount Events, Linda Osborne from The Party Girls, Tania-Lea Nelson Mobile Makeup Artist Brisbane, Kay Franks from Life Events and Emily Morandy from Cakelady Creations.

Melanie Rose Photography, thank you once again for a wonderful evening and I wish you all the best for the future in your beautiful new digs!

Secret Celebrity Weddings

20 May

Recently the headlines have been full of details about the secret wedding of Australian Cricket Captain Michael Clarke and Model Kyly Boldy on the 15th of May. Kyly wore a stunning Alex Perry Wedding Gown, which she had a large hand in designing, with Michael wearing Louis Vuitton. The ceremony took place in the stunning New South Wales Blue Mountains, at Wolgan Valley Resort. The guest list was kept to approximately 40 family and close friends the couple considered to be family. The couple released a couple of photos via Twitter on Wednesday, choosing not to sell the rights to the wedding to TV or Magazines. Congratulations Michael and Kyly!

News is also spreading that Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg wed Priscilla Chan in Palo Alto, California on Saturday, May 19, 2012. It is believed that Zuckerberg updated his Facebook status to “married” following the couples nuptials. The ceremony took place in Zuckerberg’s backyard before less than 100 guests, who all thought they were there to celebrate Chan’s graduation as a Doctor. The couple have known each other since 2003, after meeting at a Harvard fraternity party. Zuckerberg, choose not to dress in his trademark hoodie, instead, choosing a dark blue suit and tie with a white shirt, while the bride, 27, wore a beautiful white lace gown. Congratulations Mark and Priscilla!

Peplum Wedding Dresses

14 May

Are you over the short wedding dress? Would you love to wear a short wedding dress but can’t bear the thought of bearing all that leg? Well here is something that might do the trick – the Peplum Wedding Dress. I hear you ask what is Peplum? Well to put it simply, it is short over-skirts that grace the waistlines of longer gowns. The trend seems to be hitting runways all over the world in all shapes, sizes, designs, cuts and colours! So to inspire you a little further, here are a collection of some of my favourite Peplum Wedding Gowns. Enjoy!

Stamford Plaza

8 May

I recently had the pleasure of spending my one year wedding anniversary at the amazing Stamford Plaza with my wonderful husband. Our experience at the Stamford Plaza was perfect, we couldn’t have asked for a better weekend away. Our package included a Deluxe King Room on the 21st Floor, a half hour massage each in our room, complimentary drink vouchers, a three course meal served in our room by a chef, 2 latest release movies and pop corn delivered to our room on request, and they even through in a bottle of bubbly as a gift for our anniversary!! The service of the staff was exceptional, and nothing was too much trouble, even the fire  alarm we had at 12.30am in the morning!!! We had a minor issue with the locking system on our room door, which they tried to rectify immediately. Even when they couldn’t fix it a couple of hours before we checked out, they moved us to another room! I cannot fault the service of the staff, the room itself, or the package that we purchased, but it all made our anniversary very special!

On the Saturday Night I also spied a couple of weddings, which looked stunning. I also spent some time ogling the gorgeous ‘Mad-Hatter’ wedding display in the center of the hotel lobby. I snapped some pictures on my phone for your enjoyment as well!

Peach Delight

1 May

I just love my local coffee shop. They always provide me with beautiful flower inspiration while drinking my cup of morning coffee.  Today a vase of peach and yellow (well you could almost say  tangerine) Gladioli awaited my arrival. Gladioli are a stunning flower, especially with the contract against their green stalks. Just glorious!
