Oscar de la Renta Spring Bridal 2013

28 Jun

Today I thought I would feature some of the gowns from the Oscar de la Renta Spring Bridal 2013 collection. The majority of the collection was made up of traditional white gowns, which are absolutely stunning, featuring lace, illusion necklines, and layers of tulle. The collection also features gowns in jeweled accents, covered with intricate lace overlays. You also can’t miss the two striking red gowns, which started and ended the collection on the runway. The ready to wear collection appeals to a wide variety of brides, modern, chic, quirky and fun! A number of the dresses in the collection are also made in younger versions, for flower girls. How adorable!

Kim Kardashian – White House Correspondents’ Dinner

30 Apr

Happy Monday! Today I thought I would share with you a little Celeb Inspiration. Over the weekend the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner was held, and I must say some of the frocks were amazing. However, my favourite was worn by Miss Kim K! Kim covered up her famous curves in a high necked, floor length, green velvet gown with white lace sequinned belt and shoulder panels. With her trademark smoky eye make-up and pale lipstick look, Kim kept it simple with her hair and accessories. Kim looked demure and pulled of this old-hollywood style dress!

“Beautiful dream. The symbolism of Red. Boldly romantic, charming, protective, grand, seductive, sexy. From dahlias to scarlet, crimson and vermillion. A celebration of love.” – Vera.

Vera Wang has just released her Spring 2013 Bridal Collection, and she has just done it again! I am forever blown away with Vera’s creations. I am in love with shades of red at the moment and I was so excited to see the 15 gowns in this collection. The gowns feature her trademark hand rolled details and are exquisite in every way!

Golden Globes – Aisle Style

17 Jan

Now that the Golden Globes are done and dusted for another year, lets take a look at the stars who chose to wear gowns from some of the biggest names in Bridal Fashion Design. Sit back, relax and enjoy the show!

Sarah Michelle Gellar wore a stunning watercolor blue Monique Lhuillier Gown that is very similar to Monique’s ‘Cecelia’ Gown in her Fall 2012 Collection.

Lea Michele went bold with this Metallic Marchesa Gown. The gown resembles a similar creation from the Marchesa Bridal Fall 2011 Collection.

Shailene Woodley also chose a gorgeous Marchesa Gown, which is from the Marchesa Bridal Fall 2012 Collection.

Julie Bowen looked amazing in a Reem Acra creation. The gown features in the Reem Acra Spring 2012 Bridal Collection.

Sofia Vergara chose a stunning gown by Vera Wang. The  mermaid-style gown, comes complete with Vera Wang’s signature pleating and resembles Vera Wang’s Fall 2012 Collection.

Tina Fey looked stunning in a ruffled Oscar de la Renta frock. Keeping with the mermaid-style, this gown looks similar to a wedding dress from the latest Oscar de la Renta bridal collection.

Paula Patton looked amazing in a strapless yellow Monique Lhuillier gown. The gown is almost the same as the Bridal version from Monique Lhuillier.

Henry Roth Fall 2012

8 Jan

I absolutely adore all of the gowns in the Henry Roth Fall 2012 Collection. The gowns are elegant and feminine and there is a style out there for every bride. The collection features a selection of a-line, trumpet and sheath gowns that are just so hot right now! The intricate attention to detail makes every one of these gowns amazing in their own right. It is  far to hard to pick a favourite! If I had to just pick one though, Kirby takes the cake! Can’t wait to see what’s in store next for Henry!

Just Married! Holly Branson and Fred Andrews

5 Jan

Sir Richard Branson’s daughter , Holly Branson has married long time beau Fred Andrews on idyllic Necker Island, in the Caribbean on December 20, 2011.What makes this story even more special is that just months prior to their big day, the island was ravaged by fire. Not only did they hold their nuptials surrounded by fire-ravaged ruins, the couple and guests had to contend with a tropical storm which lashed the palm-fringed retreat. Holly told Hello Magazine ”It’s definitely our special place and it looked absolutely beautiful, even thought it was still very rustic – there are still piles of rubble – it was dramatic. And it’s stunning because you’re at the top of a hill so there are incredible panoramic views.’

What makes the wedding extra special, is that Sir Richard and his wife Lady Joan, married in the exact same spot, on the exact same day some 22 years earlier.

The Bride looked absolutely stunning in a bespoke ivory wedding gown and veil by Australian bridal designer Jane Hill, paired with sparkling Jimmy Choo heels and carrying a posy of cream roses.

Best of luck to the newly married couple!

Vera Wang – Spring 2012 Collection

29 Nov

Ok, so if you were like me, I am sure you would have been blown away with Vera Wang’s gorgeous Fall 2012 Collection. Guess what? It just keeps getting better. Vera Wang has now released her Spring 2012 Bridal Collection, and I tell you, these gowns are just to die for. I actually love them all – it is so hard to pick a favourite. In Vera’s own words – “An ode to the Paris Opera: Degas… young dancers floating about the stage! Artful and adorable!”. I am speechless – once again Vera proves that Brides can get creative with colour on their wedding day – gone are the days of plain white/ivory wedding gowns!

Dress Code Dilemmas

15 Nov

Ok, so in keeping with my recent article for Polka Dot Bride on Demystifying Dress Codes – I took some of my own advice and hit the shops over the past couple of weekends, on the hunt for the perfect outfit for my sister in-laws wedding. Armed with all that prior knowledge must have paid off for sure! Oh how I was so wrong.

After losing a bit of weight recently, a lot of my possible dress options at home were useless. I decided that I had procrastinated  enough with putting the dress shopping off, and that just over 5 weeks out, I had to get something organised. So packed full of confidence, I hit my local shopping centre, which to be quite honest was a lost cause. With that in mind I decided to go a few post codes further away, and spent nearly a full day at Chermside (the shopping centre from hell). After going into just about every store the sold anything that resembled a dress, I was quite disappointed that I couldn’t find “the dress”. I knew what I wanted – something classy, not trashy. Something that wasn’t too dressy, but not to casual. Knee length – no shorter no longer, and preferably blue in colour. Do you think I could find the dress??? NO. So I headed home, feeling a little upset. Having lost a few kilos, I thought dress shopping for sure would be a lot funner and a lot easier.

I got home, and decided that I might give up on the dress shopping for a while, until my hubby suggested that he take me to yet another shopping centre to see what we could find. This shopping centre trip was definitely more fruitful and I was happy to say that I found 3 dresses that ticked all of my boxes. Dress # 1 – really nice, but unfortunately wasn’t happy with how it sat, so it was crossed off the list. The last 2 dresses were so severely out of our price range, it was a bit of a joke. Dress # 2 – absolutely stunning, ticked all of the boxes, except for the price. Unfortunately I could not justify spending $279 on a dress! Dress # 3 was hiding on a rack that I had flicked through multiple times. It also ticked all the boxes, and was marginally cheaper in price….$235…none the less cheaper! So with that in mind dress 3 was picked and is pictured below for your ogling!

With spending so much on the dress, I was on a strict budget with the accessories. I managed to pick up the most amazing nude satin heels from the Tony Bianco Outlet at Jindalee DFO – reduced from $149 to a mere $24.95. With this bargain I was satisfied. Shoes also pictured below for your ogling! I also managed to grab a very cheap nude clutch handbag from K-Mart for $15. A total outfit for under $300! Way more than what I wanted to spend, but at least  I will be able to wear everything again!
