Hot Wedding Trends for 2012

14 Nov

With 2011 drawing to a close, I thought I would highlight some of the hot wedding trends that are presenting themselves for 2012!

Themes –  Vintage Glamour, Nautical, Ethnic Inspired (think Mexican or Moroccan) and Secret Garden are all options to be considered for 2012. Natural and Beach themes also continue to be very popular.

Eco-Friendly Weddings – are becoming more and more popular. Whether you choose to use organic fabrics for your gowns, organic paper for your stationery or choose to source the food for your celebrations from local suppliers, all of these go towards an environmentally friendly wedding.

Bridesmaids Dresses – keeping the colour of your Bridesmaids dresses consistent but changing the style of dress or the tone of colour for each Bridesmaid will become more popular in 2012. It is great if you also have different shapes and sizes in your bridal party.

Dessert Buffets – Yep , I am glad to say that Dessert Buffets are Hot Hot Hot! Dessert Buffets are the perfect bonbonniere and can be easily matched to your wedding theme. It is also keeps the guests amused for hours!

Decor- Mixing up the sizes and shapes of centrepieces will be popular for 2012 – go for different size and coloured vases, but fill them with the same flowers. The shapes of tables are also changing – why not have half round and half square tables for your reception. Chinese lanterns, balloons and garlands are also very popular.

Wedding Accessories – Shorter Veils, in particular the Birdcage veil and trains are very popular. Brides are also choosing shrugs, boleros and shawls. For cooler weather choose faux fur, and for spring/summer weddings lace, tulle and chiffon are prefect to keep the sun off your arms, chest and back.

Wedding Dresses – Strapless gowns are always favourites, but romantic flowing dresses in soft fabrics with ruffles, floral details and satin sashes at the waist are remaining popular with brides. Gowns with crystal, cubic zirconia and/or pearl detailing on the bodices are also very popular.

Transport – Horse drawn carriages, limousines and exotic cars are still very popular. For a more unconventional method, why not arrive in style on a motorbike or a hot air balloon?
